close but no cigar………….

So last night we had a little excitement in the Butler household. With Amber’s due date only a week away we are pretty much on high alert and with this being our first we don’t really know what to expect. Last night after a day of just feeling exhausted Amber started to have her best contraction to date, long and hard. Then withing 1/2 hour a second contraction hit again same style. But as our excitement rose and I watched the clock the third fourth and fifth were all no shows and hour went by and our systems returned to normal. We really want to have her this week for several reasons. One because we don’t like to wait for things(we are the people who do our Christmas on the day before Christmas eve because we can’t wait),two-we just really want to start our new life, the room has been completed for a while and even though we don’t plan on living in our house for to long we just want it filled with baby cries and laughter. Three her main OBGYN in on call all this week but not next week.( This is more for me as I am really comfortable with her and she knows what regimin I want to do in the delivery room) So please pray for us and our little one, we know it’s all God’s timing but we just really are excited and want’ to move on.  Also on a similar note I read an article today on how in nine months some doctors believe we will see a baby boom similar to the boom that took place after JFK was elected president. I found that pretty interesting and also found that Obama’s birthday is unique August 4, 1961 that’s almost nine months to the day from JFK’s election. A Brief side note, can we please stop talking about the pregnant man. This is so stupid it’s like a bad joke that won’t go away. Seth Myers from SNL said it best when he mentioned on weekend update that the pregnant man was able to conceive because he has lady parts. So come on people get over it and please Barbara Walters stop with the stupid interviews and comments. You were a credible journalist at one point and time now you are just Jerry Springer.

baby weight

So we had our ultra-sound today and the baby is weighing in at a whopping 2 pounds. She is really long at least that’s how she looks, and so darn cute. She makes us smile every time. The doc says everything is going perfect which is good news for us since all the problems Amber had in the past. But things are going great she moves like crazy we laugh about it all the time and there is one pic where she is covering her face, so I don’t think she likes her picture taken. 10 fingers and 10 toes and a great spine, so no problems at all. So that’s it right now had 2 people look at the house yesterday and 2 more today so we are geeked about it. But right now enjoying the little bit of sun that’s out and chillin at starbucks.

it’s a girl!!!!!

So it is 100% official. And yes I know what my weekend will be filled with putting furniture together painting the room hanging lights. But in the end it will and is all worth it. I just love seeing the ultrasounds. It’s like seeing through God’s eyes. Amazing everything that goes on inside my wife’s little belly. She is 9 oz. right now so I was close on the mint mocha. And seeing her little feet and hands just adds years to my life. When I met my wife I never thought I could come close to loving anyone or anything as much as her, but seeing these pics just helps me realize how big my heart is and that there is always room for more.  So the fun has just begun and my rent’s are super excited. They finally were able to see live today what we have been showing pictures of this whole time.

Christmas Night.

without comments

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse, is completely 100% how I feel right now. Don’t know how much sleep I will get tonight, because tomorrow morning around 7:45 I will be seeing my little girl(65% sure so far) for the first time in a while. Her ears developed and really starting to take shape. Amber still gets to feel her move from time to time, but mine will come.  We have all the big test tomorrow to show just how perfect she is going to be. The room is waiting to be put together and painted and all the fun things that go along. We can finally start buying stuff and dreaming about how she will look. I just can’t wait to see her. It is possibly one of the most exciting days of my life. I still remember as a kid and my parents playing hide the big toy game with me. I opened one box and nothing opened another and nothing and then one more and still nothing. As I looked at them with a puzzled look they said open one more and there inside was a note that said “check the basement” and so I did. Just what I wanted a red rider bb gun. Ha Ha just kidding no it was a huge race car track. Boy was I excited but this is truly more exciting than that could ever be. Each time is like opening another gift only now I get to see my gift grow and take shape and be molded in God’s hands. What a great site. Keep us in your prayers and wait for the good news by this time tomorrow we will be 100% positive.  And for you wondering she will be the size of a mint mocha frappuccino a must try from the Starbucks.

is that my baby?????

without comments

So they say my little darling is the size of a turnip. Wonder what the fascination is with comparing you baby’s pre birth size to fruit or just food in general. But I guess saying that your kids the size of a fruit is better then comparing your baby to the size of items from McDonald’s. Although it would be pretty amusing if they did. I could see the email now, your baby is approx. the size of Super Sized French Fries, or the size of a Big Mac. Maybe though that would be more relatable to people who tend to eat the golden arches for every meal. As a matter of fact it just might be my next business project, to start a custom baby chart and compare the growth of your unborn child to something that you relate to whether it be McDonald’s, White Castle’s, candy, different liquor drinks or my favorite could be the Starbuck’s menu. Your baby is the size of a grande iced coffee with 1 shot of vanilla and 1 shot of caramel. Man I can see her face now through that description thanks baby comparison website man. So who knows by the next time your ready it could be available………… Oh and one more thing 1 week from today we get the official word she’s a girl. Unless????????????

oh to be 17???

without comments

So it’s going pretty fast now. 17 weeks and counting, and to tell you the truth I was jealous for the first time the other day. As Amber and I sat on the couch she said she felt her flutter. And then again, wow the joy on her face was majestic.  Her eyes became real big like it was Christmas day and she was a 5 year old who just saw her Barbie dream house. I was jealous because I couldn’t experience it. Our baby was moving but yet their I sat unable to notice and really if she wouldn’t have said anything I would have never known.  What a milestone in my life, what a change of pace and what an exciting time. And yet I can only feel maybe one third of the system that is being created. You know at 17 I would have never had wished this on anyone. I think at a young age you aren’t really able to experience the joy of having a child. Yes you can be happy and yes you can be excited and nervous but to really experience it you have to want it. Think of it like a roller coaster. I for one hate them but yet if you can get me on one for a ride yes I will enjoy it for the few seconds it last but when my feet hit the ground I won’t go back on. Now, if you love roller coasters and can’t wait to get to Six Flags and ride them, stand in line for hours and let your excitement build then strap in and anxiously wait as it makes it’s big climb to the top, breath in the air and scream with excitement as your stomach pushes into your chest. Hold on to the handle bars and smile as your head whips around the corner and then when your feet touch the ground run to the next line and wait for it all over again. Same ride but yet two different views.  I am the second guy right now. At seventeen nope, but now at thirty, totally. I am enjoying every second………
